Child Honouring Schools
Child Honouring is the children-first way of sustainability.
For over thirty years now, teachers have used Raffi’s music for young children to stimulate joyful learning in every area of the curriculum. Though Raffi no longer performs family concerts, his catalogue of timeless songs is as popular as ever. As well, his children’s books and DVDs are still loved at home and at school.
In recent years, more and more educators have been learning about Raffi’s work with Child Honouring—his integrated philosophy for healthy child development, sustainable communities, and a child-friendly world.
The simple power of Child Honouring is expressed in Raffi’s Covenant for Honouring Children and in the 2006 anthology Child Honouring: How to Turn This World Around (ed. Cavoukian and Olfman, foreword by His Holiness the Dalai Lama).
On his new DVD, Raffi Renaissance: Child Honouring and the Compassion Revolution, you can see Raffi’s evolution into a systems thinker and global troubadour on the major themes of our times. It contains remarkable footage of Raffi’s conversation with the Dalai Lama, his performance for Nelson Mandela, and new music videos of songs from his Resisto Dancing CD.
Child Honouring offers a new paradigm for global change, as well as myriad opportunities for educators to change the world through the ways they respect and regard their students.
