Letters To Raffi

From Shelton, Washington…

Dear Raffi,

Your music had changed the lives of a beautiful two year old girl and her father and mother. Your music has helped our daughter (and us, her parents) to think and act with more kindness, humor and awareness. Our daughter pretends to be you and sings to us. Thank you for that… they are moments that we cherish as parents.

As a father and teacher, your Child Honouring Covenant has helped me to see more deeply the need for change in education. I could go on and on about what is wrong with “school,” but what is really needed is more people seeing (and valuing) children as the most precious human entity on our earth and that everyone of them can learn. It is not the children that fail in school, it is the administrators, teachers and the parents. Further, we need to understand that the earth is what sustains us, not ourselves. With that mind-shift would come the changes so desperately needed.

Thank you for what you do,

Joel Thurman-Williams
